LogisT-Africa – After succeeding Amine Debaghine Mesraoua in June 2022, Yacine Benslimane is stepping down from his position as the head of the Algerian national airline less than two years later, handing over the reins to Hamza Benhamouda, who was previously the Director-General of the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC).
This change, decided by Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, was announced through a press release on Wednesday, February 7th.
The new captain of Air Algérie faces the challenging task of surpassing the achievements of his predecessor, who successfully navigated the post-Covid turbulence and led the airline to positive results in recent months. Indeed, “The Algerian public company reported a 37% decrease in its net profit for 2020, representing a financial gap of 40 billion dinars (approximately 250 million euros),” according to Jeune Afrique.
It is worth noting that for the current year, Air Algérie intends to further expand its international presence by launching 16 new air routes to America, Asia, and Europe, while solidifying its positions on the African continent.
